Backyard Revolution’s Growing A Nation
This year’s BYR programming is inspired by the idea of how small steps add up to big ones. Join us in honoring the practical aspects of our historical journey and discover just how our forebears went about ‘Growing A Nation.’ The entire family will find reasons to linger and explore as our BYR Team shares their passion and knowledge about historical skills and wisdom, via hands on activities. Look forward to learning about and participating in:
And for more excitement…
Young Pioneer’s Parade
Children will love the Heritage Harvest Festival this year, with creative opportunities abounding. Stompers and singers alike are all invited to take part in our Young Pioneer’s Parade! Throughout the day, the BYR Village will host Musician and Instrument Maker, Jim Gagnon, who shall oversee the little feet, as they fashion their own music makers, which will then be used to raise a ruckus as the Walking Parade encircles the West Lawn, celebrating Heritage, Harvests, and History – step by step!
First Annual Farm Games
Test your skill and pastoral prowess at the first annual Backyard Revolution Farm Games! Join us in good old fashioned family silliness with gunny sack and water bucket races, egg spoon runs, horseshoes, a cow pie toss…and more!
Snaps to Remember
Mustn’t miss photo opportunities with historic figures, both in the flesh and woodcut! Times TBA.
Stroll the grounds with Jefferson’s Faithful Master Builder, James Dinsmore (our dear Gary Lyon Letten) and learn about the ways and means of construction at Monticello. Times TBA.
Talk to the Animals!
Visit the BYR Barnyard Area to rub elbows (hoofs, snouts, claws and paws) with Live Farm Animals.
